Absurdly Spacious Sewer: In Saejima's story chapters, he uses Kamurocho's sewers to avoid any police presence due to him being a wanted man.

However, the two uniformed cops reveal themselves as Tsuneo's thugs and attack both detectives. Honjo goes to the hospital where Haruka was being kept with a pair of uniformed officers and tries to arrest Date for kidnapping. Tsuneo Iwami uses his connections in the TMPD to find out the place where Date was hiding Haruka and her son Haruto Sawamura, and then uses those same connections to fool Honjo into thinking Date is holding Haruka against her will. Nonetheless, Honjo also suggests Kiryu might be responsible and simply trying to frame the Saio. After inspecting the corpse, Honjo tells Date that he suspects the killers were with the Saio Triad due to the type of weapon and style of execution used. Honjo is later seen when Kiryu, Yuta Usami and Tsuyoshi Nagumo report the murder of Shu Tatsukawa to the police after they find his body. As a favor to Date, Honjo would later take Kiryu to see the scene of the incident so he could investigate it himself. 
Honjo and Date were the two detectives assigned to the case, due to being closest to the scene at the time. Honjo meets with Kazuma Kiryu at the Touto University Hospital after his adoptive daughter, Haruka Sawamura is critically injured in what appeared to be a deliberate hit and run. He was partnered with Makoto Date shortly before the events of Yakuza 6.
Honjo is a detective with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Division. He also seemingly puts too much faith in his superiors, as he did not suspect that he was actually being manipulated by the Yomei Alliance when he was told Date was illegally confining someone in the Police Hospital. Honjo wears a black suit over a white dress shirt and a striped gray-and-white tie.Ĭompared to his colleague Makoto Date, Honjo takes a more no-nonsense and by-the-book approach to solving his cases, as shown when he immediately suspected Kiryu over the murder of Shu Tatsukawa.
